GoG launches Galaxy, its DRM-free platform

GoG (Good Old Games) is an online video game sales platform that specializes in the sale of old titles that have become difficult to find in boxed versions or even in dematerialized versions. Over time, the platform has carved out a reputation with low prices and reworked titles for greater compatibility with new platforms.

And now, you have to reckon with GoG Galaxy, a service that is modeled on that of Steam, offered as access to the title of open beta for now.

Unlike Steam, it will not be necessary to go through Galaxy to launch the titles purchased, the platform remaining at the provider stage is responsible for highlighting the catalog and settlement of transactions. Once the title paid and recovered, the player can do what he wants, understand that there is no DRM in the titles offered and that access to the games is done naturally, without going through any platform validating its launch.

The advantage of the system is that it allows you to lend dematerialized games, since they are not linked to a specific user account.

The other advantage lies in the fact that the titles remain accessible even when the user does not have an Internet connection. Since it is not necessary to identify yourself with Galaxy to launch the games, the user will be able to enjoy their titles on the go.
