YouTube expands live broadcast functionality

We should see more and more live video streams coming to YouTube. Google's video platform has just announced that it will ease its conditions for streaming live content.

Until now, the functionality was only offered to a set of handpicked professionals, mainly Google partners or reputable media. In the coming weeks, anyone who has a channel of at least 10,000 subscribers will be able to embark on the live broadcast of video streams.

If the gesture goes in the right direction, we regret that it arrives so late: this type of functionality has already been present on Twitter and Facebook for a few years already, and without any restrictions, a shame, however, given the specialization of YouTube on the video industry.

To make live streams, you will have to go through the YouTube mobile app. The platform will rely on its Super Chat functionality to monetize these live streams, leaving the possibility for spectators to pay to be highlighted in the comments.
