According to information from our colleagues at Gizmochina, Xiaomi will present the Mi 11 from theTuesday, December 29, 2020. Recently, the same source revealed to the media the launch date of the Mi Watch Lite, a connected display with GPS tracking.

Unfortunately, Gizmochina does not know if the conference on December 29 is about the launch of smartphones in China or an international presentation. On our side, we imagine rather that the conference will be reserved for the Chinese market. Obviously, we will have to wait for Xiaomi to send the invitations to the press to confirm.

Xiaomi Mi 11, the first smartphone with SoC Snapdragon 888

As expected, the Mi 11 will therefore establish itself as the first smartphone to take advantage of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 SoC. Engraved in 5nm, the chipset embeds eight Kryo 680 cores and an Adreno 660 GPU. Not surprisingly, the SoC will also supply many other high-end smartphones expected in the course of next year, including the American version of the Galaxy S21 or the OnePlus 9.

The first leaks, however, affirmed that Xiaomi would wait until January 2021 to unveil its new range of smartphones. We imagine that the Chinese brand probably wanted to bring forward the launch date in order to be able to get ahead of the competition, including Samsung. The smartphone leader will shortly present the Galaxy S21, S21 + and S21 Ultra. In the USA, the three smartphones will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC. The presentation would take place on January 14, 2021. By announcing the Mi 11 at the end of December, Xiaomi secures the title of “first smartphone with Snapdragon 888”.

As a reminder, Xiaomi should present two different variants of its new flagship : a higher-end Pro edition and a more affordable standard version. Among the distinctive features of the range is a QHD + display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and fast charging of 55W.
