WWDC 2019: Apple Unveils iOS 13, tvOS 13, iPadOS 13 & watchOS 6

Last night, Apple held its opening conference of the WWDC 2019 at the McEnery Convention Center in San José, California (United States). Without surprise, Tim cook presented the future operating systems that will equip Apple devices.

tvOS 13 for Apple TV

The CEO of the apple brand first lifted the veil on tvOS 13, the main novelty of which is the possibility of creating multiple profiles like on Netflix, for a fully personalized experience. In addition, we learned that tvOS 13 is fully compatible with PS4 and Xbox One controllers. Another new feature to note is the display of song lyrics in Apple Music.

watchOS 6 for Apple Watch

Kevin Lynch then took charge of presenting watchOS 6 that will equip the Apple Watch. Among the new features, we note the imminent arrival of an App Store on Apple’s connected watch, offering independent applications (Audiobook, Voice Memos, Calculator, etc.). Finally, new designs for the Watch Faces interface are appearing, and bracelets for the summer have been announced.

Regarding the Health app, it has been completely reworked and improved with Activity Trends to follow your activities and your history more advanced, Hearing Health to measure the decibels around you and Cycle Tracking to allow women to manage more easily. their menstrual cycles.

iOS 13 for iPhone

Craig Federighi unveiled for the general public iOS 13, ensuring that the future operating system of the iPhone allows Face ID to be 30% faster. As rumors had announced, a very worked dark mode finally appeared. In addition, iOS 13 arrives with a new keyboard that allows you to slide your fingers between the letters to write faster.

Some other novelties, out of order:

  • As on tvOS6, Apple Music acquires song lyrics. The Plans application, for its part, is evolving for the United States, with more detailed maps and a Street View-like.
  • HomePod can start radio stations.
  • An option to connect with your Apple account on the applications will see the light of day.
  • As for photos, the Portrait mode has been improved.
  • CarPlay sees the arrival of a new card and support for Siri and Waze.
  • Other minor new features have been added to iMessage and Memojis.

iPadOS 13 for the iPad

Apple finally chose to offer a clean OS for its tablets: iPadOS. Among the features of iPadOS 13 presented, we can mention the widgets on the home screen, the Split View to split the screen, new features in the Files app (including compatibility with USB keys), Safari ( end of responsive mobile, a download manager), Fonts (custom fonts),… Finally, Apple Pencil sees its latency lowered from 20ms to 9ms.
