Despite delays in delivery, AirPods were in the spotlight during the holiday season. A report by Slice Intelligence having collected data from millions of anonymous electronic receipts revealed that Apple’s new headphones accounted for more than a quarter of sales.
The report also points out that on the day of the launch of the AirPods pre-orders, at the end of 2016, the number of online sales of helmets reached peaks. These were much larger than the sales of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This is no doubt linked to the fact that Cupertino headphones have had a limited launch in stores due to delays in production.
Apple, market leader in wireless headphones
Before the AirPods, the Cupertino company already enjoyed a significant presence on the wireless headset market through the Beats brand. Remember that the latter was bought by the apple company in May 2014. Wireless headsets or earphones are enjoying growing success. During the holiday season, they actually accounted for 75% of sales.
