By allowing Windows 7 or 8.1 users to activate a copy of Windows 10 with their product key, Microsoft has probably solved most of the problems encountered at this level. What is more, the Redmond company offers help that explains the activation methods: digital law or product key.
That said, Microsoft has decided to introduce a wizard in Windows 10 to deal with stubborn activation issues. Before general availability this summer, it makes an appearance in a build 14371 of Windows 10 Insider Preview (Quick channel).
Offered in the Activation section in Windows 10 update and security settings, this help tool must respond more specifically to activation problems related to hardware changes. In addition, it becomes possible to link a Microsoft account with a digital activation license.
Recall that for Windows 10, the main restriction for activation failure concerns access to personalization features. Even without activation, the copy of Windows 10 remains functional.
