WhatsApp: 4 Simple Ways To Read Messages From A Sender Without Him Knowing

As we all know, WhatsApp lets you know thanks to the two little ticks that follow each of your messages and change color to blue when you have read them.

This feature has an advantage as well as a drawback.

The advantage is that you will know whether the receiver has read the message or not. But at the same time, the downside is that if you don’t reply to the sender right away, the sender may feel embarrassed and assume you ignored them.

To avoid such awkward situations, here are some easy methods that you can use to read WhatsApp messages without alerting the sender’s attention by triggering the blue check marks.

WhatsApp: 4 Simple Ways To Read Messages From A Sender Without Him Knowing

1. Disable the Read receipt option

Turning off the Read Receipt option is probably the easiest way to read a WhatsApp message without notifying the sender. By doing this, you turn off WhatsApp’s ability to show the blue check marks to the sender who tells them that you have read their message. But the downside is that you also won’t be able to see the blue check marks when someone has read your message.

Here’s how to turn it off:

  • Open WhatsApp and go to the “Settings” menu
  • Tap on “My Account”, then on “Privacy”.
  • Uncheck the option “Read receipt”

2. Slide the notification bar

This is another easy method to read WhatsApp messages without alerting the sender. Whenever you receive a message on WhatsApp, it will show a notification on your notification bar. Just swipe down the notification area from the top of the screen and you can easily read the full or partial message without opening the app. The blue check marks only light up when you open the app to read messages.

3. Switch your phone to Airplane mode

Once you receive a message do not open the app immediately, switch your phone to airplane mode, Then open WhatsApp and read your messages discreetly.

Once done, stay in airplane mode, exit and close the WhatsApp completely and then turn off Airplane mode.

4. Place the WhatsApp Widget on your home screen

If you don’t want to go to the extreme length of turning off all your phone’s connectivity. You can place a WhatsApp widget on your home screen to read the message at a glance. Since reading a message via widget doesn’t really open the app, this will prevent the checkmarks from turning blue. You can even reply to other messages without having to send read receipts to the sender you want to ignore. But the problem with this method is that you can only see text messages and emoticons, everything that is pictures, videos and voice notes is not supported.

To add the WhatsApp widget to your home screen,

Press and hold on a clear area of the screen, then choose Widgets.

Keep swiping until you find WhatsApp, press and hold on the WhatsApp widget, and then drag it to where you want it to appear on your home screen.
