What is Amazon Prime Student?

Amazon Prime is a subscription-based program that allows Amazon users to take advantage of additional benefits such as free shipping, quality video and music access, special product discounts – of course after paying for the subscription. Amazon Prime Student is developed by Amazon especially for students. It offers many more benefits, some of which are not available to regular Prime members, but only to students.

Advantages of Prime Student membership:

Trial period and price

Amazon Prime offers a 30-day free trial while Prime Student members get the privilege of using it for six months without even paying a dime. No 30 days but 180 free stuff and it makes a big difference. After six months, Prime Student members become eligible to join Amazon Prime for half the price of a regular Prime subscription.

Free delivery

Whether you choose a two day shipment, a same day shipment or a two hour shipment (Prime Now only), the product will be delivered to you at no shipping cost.

Free photo storage

Only Prime Student members have unlimited free photo storage. It allows you to store as many photos as you want without any inconvenience. This benefit consists of content that can be shared with up to five family members or friends, at no hidden cost.

Discounts and special offers

The Prime subscription offers a special discount on millions of items, which is not available for regular Amazon users. In addition, Prime Student members benefit from the best offer and more discounts on items belonging to the student category. For example, bags, laptops, video games, etc.

Access to Prime videos

Primary members can watch an unlimited number of movies, TV shows and videos on any device. The best part is that all of these videos are downloadable not in the app, but on the device itself, allowing it to be viewed effortlessly without the Internet.

Prime Reading Access

Prime Reading offers free access to a wide range of books, magazines, comics, etc. Selected Kindle singles are also added to the library for Prime Readers.

Audible access

Some of the above benefits are reserved for Prime Student members, while the others are also open to ordinary Prime members. However, certain conditions must be met in order to benefit from the advantages of Prime Student membership.

Amazon Premium Student


  • The member must be a college student located in the United States and not outside. And, the student must be registered at least one course. Thus, a student from countries other than the United States cannot be a Prime Student member.
  • You must have proof of registration that you can provide upon request from Amazon.
  • You must have an email address with the .edu domain suffix.

The most important advice to keep in mind is that you should not try to apply for Prime Student membership if you cannot meet all of the above conditions. Because if you do not provide the valid requested documents, you may have to repay the amount of benefits that you have received, as they immediately send a request for the documents upon registration.

So, only apply if you are eligible.
