Following the publication of iOS 5 beta 4 by Apple where the installation is done Over The Air but prevents users of jailbroken devices from doing it, MuscleNerd announced this morning the update of Redsn0w 0.9.8 in version beta 4 to jailbreak iOS 5 beta 4 in a tethered way. Here is a tutorial explaining the manipulation to be performed step by step.
Please note, if you wish to keep your unlocking, do not update your device for the moment!

Update iTunes to 10.5 beta 4.
Launch redns0w, click on Browse and indicate the firmware 5.0 beta 4.
Click on next
Check the “Install Cydia” box
Put your device in DFU mode by following the on-screen instructions
- Connect your device to USB
- Turn off the device
- Click on the button [Next] in redsn0w
- Hold the POWER button on your device for 3 seconds
- Then hold the HOME button without letting go of the POWER button for 10 seconds
- Release the POWER button while still holding the HOME button while waiting for redsn0w to react
When the Jailbreak begins here is what it gives
Your device is now Jailbreak.
The jailbreak is tethered, that is to say that a restart via redsn0w is necessary in case you turn off your device.
If Cydia does not launch after jailbreak, consider relaunching redsn0w and using the “Just boot tethered right now” option, which should resolve the problem.
