After the release of RedSn0w 0.9.3b3 allowing you to install applications without Cydia, here is a tutorial explaining how to do it.
- A device in 4.2.1 GM jailbroken with RedSn0w 0.9.6b3
- The 4.2.1 GM firmware on your desktop
Launch RedSn0w 0.9.6b3
Click on the button [browse] and select the 4.2.1 GM firmware on your desktop.
Once RedSn0w has finished working, click on the button [Next]
You will find yourself in this menu:
Check, as shown on the screenshot, the “install custom bundle” box (and the others if you wish).
Before clicking on the button [Next], you need to download the SSH Bundle, which will allow you to connect using SSH.
Then click on [Next]
RedSn0w should ask you to get the BUNDLE in .gz format.
Select the one downloaded in the previous step:
Once RedSn0w has identified the bundle, click on [next].
RedSn0w will ask you to switch to DFU.
You will be guided with a counter integrated into the software 😉
Once in DFU, RedSn0w will work again. Once the “Done” label has appeared, click on [Finish!] and wait for your device to reboot.
Once rebooted, you can connect to SSH, and therefore install DEB without Cydia 😉
To install a DEB, you can do it manually or with iPhInstaller
