Tutorial – How to activate AirPrint on Windows

AirPrint, one of the new iOS 4.2 features, can be fully activated on Windows. You still have to know how to do it 😉

Here is a tutorial, come directly from our forum, which explains how to do it.

Pre-requisites

  • An administrator account on the PC
  • A printer shared with your PC
  • iTunes 10

There are actually 2 methods to activate it: a manual method and an automatic method.

Here are the 2 methods.

Method 1: manual

Step 1

Go to C: via Windows Explorer.

If you are on a 32-bit system, go to the Program Files folder and create a folder in it that you will name “AirPrint” (respect upper and lower case)

If you are on a 64-bit system, the folder where to create the AirPrint folder will be called Program Files (x86).

Step 4

Enter the following commands, depending on your operating system (32 or 64 bit) (each line break means that you must press the Enter key):

  • For 32-bit systems

sc.exe create AirPrint binPath = “C: Program Files AirPrint airprint.exe -s” depend = “Bonjour Service” start = auto

sc.exe start AirPrint

  • For 64-bit systems

sc.exe create AirPrint binPath = “C: Program Files (x86) AirPrint airprint.exe -s” depend = “Bonjour Service” start = auto

sc.exe start AirPrint

Method 2: automatic

Step 1

Download the installer here.

Launch it. The program is so easy to use that a tutorial is not even useful 😉
