Towards a New Postponement of Trade Restrictions in the United States

Since May, the group Huawei is subject to the restrictions imposed by the decree signed by Donald Trump on national security, severely limiting trade relations with US high-tech companies, whether for the supply of components or partnerships.

Any commercial exchange is under the supervision of a commission which delivers authorizations drop by drop and most often refuses requests. However, in order not to penalize certain existing partnerships with American companies, in particular for the supply of telecom equipment, Huawei benefits from a temporary easing of trade restrictions.

An initial period of 90 days had been granted until August and it had been extended by an additional 90 days, that is to say with validity until November 19. This deadline is fast approaching, the vagueness remains on the continuation of events.

According to the site Politico, the Chinese group should benefit from a further postponement of the full application of the sanctions, and this time for a duration of six months, always in order to avoid operational problems with regional US operators equipping themselves with Chinese equipment manufacturers.

Constraints are still present with large companies like Google, Intel or Qualcomm, forcing Huawei to find alternatives to provide technologies and components for its products.

But the situation could evolve favorably and loosen the noose of trade restrictions in the coming months if the trade war between China and the United States eventually subsides over meetings and discussions between the leaders.
