After Forbes (Forbes: Apple remains the most powerful brand in the world) and more recently Fortune (read: Fortube 500: Apple in 3rd place in the 2016 ranking), it’s the turn of Brandz to publish its annual ranking of the 100 most valued brands in the world. To everyone’s surprise, Google has just dethroned the Cupertino company and now relegates it to second place.
As a reminder, it was the apple brand which held the first position last year. In 2016, the Mountain View firm seems to have done better and therefore returns to the top of the podium, where it was in 2014. Google notably experienced an increase of 32% compared to last year, with a value of 229.198 billion of dollars. Apple has lost 8 points and its brand is now valued at $ 228.460 billion. The difference is certainly not significant, but that directly influences the classification.
In third place, we find Microsoft which gained 5 points, but whose value remains low ($ 121.9 billion) compared to the two giants previously mentioned. Finally, the social network Facebook is the one that has experienced the strongest growth (+ 44%), although its brand is valued “only” 102.551 billion dollars. It is positioned in 5th place behind the operator AT&T (107.387 billion dollars).
