Tim Cook, the current CEO of Apple, never comments on future Apple products that have not yet been announced. However, this does not prevent investors and analysts from questioning it every quarter when the financial results are published. This quarter is no exception to the rule; During the telephone call that followed Apple’s results for the first quarter of 2020, Cook was again questioned. This time, on Apple’s plans for 5G.
Here’s what Tim Cook said:
“We are not commenting on future products, so I will try to get around the question a bit.” When it comes to 5G, I think we are at the very beginning of the global rollout. We could obviously not be more proud of our product range and are also very enthusiastic about our range and we would not want to swap positions for anyone. “
Regarding the question about the price of the first iPhone 5G (the iPhone 12), Tim Cook replied:
“Again, I want to avoid commenting on future products. But in general, I think what’s important when you think of 5G is to look around the world for different deployment schedules. And some of them may be very different from what you see here. In terms of price, I would not like to comment on the price of devices that are not advertised. “
The first iPhone to be compatible with 5G will see the light of day next September.
