This week, don't miss the rain of shooting stars from the Taurides

Since October 31, our Earth continues its race around the sun and entered the wake of dust and rocks left by the comet Encke. And this week, we will witness a peak of activity, the climax of which should be on November 11.

By the disturbance of the planets, and particularly that of Jupiter, it is possible to observe the Taurids in two very distinct sections: the Northern Taurids from October 20 to December 10 and the Southern Taurids from September 10 to November 20.

Unlike the orionids of the past month which were distinguished by an impressive number of shooting stars per hour, the Taurids are exceptional by the effects produced. The debris of the Encke comet is larger and charged with metals, which implies more intense light flashes, longer and spectacular flares. At the height of the activity, we should witness 5 balls of fire in the night sky per hour.

This year, the show promises to be particularly interesting, the phenomenon only occurs once every 7 years. A spectacle not to be missed, if the weather is suitable, of course.
