Foreshadowed for several months by a series of leaks and indiscretions, the connected watch Galaxy Watch Samsung finally unveiled at the same time as the smartphone Galaxy Note 9.
With a housing 42 or 46 mm, it retains the design of a classic watch but still with the wheel framing the screen (the "rotating bezel") to facilitate interactions.
The case is water resistant to 50 meters and the watch can be declined in version with 4G LTE modem making it autonomous. Depending on the version, there will be a 1.2 inch or 1.2 inch Super AMOLED circular display with a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels.
Connected watches use a dedicated processor Exynos 9110 1.15 GHz dual core with 750 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage (or 1.5 GB of RAM and 4 GB of storage for the large model) and on-board batteries ensuring 4 to 7 days of autonomy, and with wireless charging .
Always under Tizen OS 4.0 (and therefore ultimately no Wear OS), they can obviously act as a coach for monitoring daily activity and sports sessions with even a stress management system when it detects an abnormally high heart rate.
Galaxy Watch watches have Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi b / g / n and NFC wireless connectivity, as well as a GPS module and motion sensors to monitor activity and sleep. Samsung announces availability of Galaxy Watch watches from September 7, pre-orders are open between August 22 and September 6, with a Duo wireless charger offered.
