Mercedes recently announced the arrival of its new multimedia system which will soon equip its Class A model. Special feature of this new system: it will serve as a relay between the iPhone and the driver. It will also be compatible with Siri.
With the new Mercedes A-Class soon to be released, the automaker recently announced the arrival of its new multimedia system. Called “Command”, the latter has been developed by its research center in Palo Alto (in California) and will work together, thanks to the Drive Kit Plus cable (optional), with the Apple smartphone to be able to offer several interesting services to the driver.
First, the main features of the iPhone will be shown on the multimedia system screen. In this way, the driver will be able to see the name or number of the incoming call with complete safety and will also be able to "manage" his music library built into the iPhone directly from the system.
Then, the system will also be compatible with the Siri voice recognition functionality built into the iPhone 4S. It will be possible to read or send messages without taking your hands off the wheel.
Best of all, using the future dedicated Digital DriveStyle App, the car will transmit its last GPS position to the iPhone when it is parked. This will then allow the driver to be guided to his vehicle via the same application.
Finally, the system will natively integrate a complete navigation system powered by Garmin and sharing applications such as Twitter and Facebook as well as online music.
This new multimedia system will also be available in Class B, C and E from autumn 2012.
We discuss it on the forum.
