Facial recognition Face ID is one of the major new features brought by Apple on theiPhone X. According to the latest analyzes of Ming-Chi Kuo, the smartphone will not be the only device of the brand to benefit from it. Indeed, the latter claims that the same technology will be offered on the iPad Pro of 2018. And accuracy is important here since other iPad models will not benefit from it. Users of these devices will therefore have to settle for the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
For the moment, the details around this project have not yet been revealed. It is therefore difficult to know how Cupertino plans to install Face ID sensors on its tablets for professionals. What is certain is that they will be placed on the upper part of the screen, exactly as for the iPhone X. The sensors must necessarily be installed alongside the front camera, which will also play a role in the facial recognition of the user.
As a reminder, the latest iPad Pro models have a screen with thinner borders. However, it is not certain that Apple will be able to offer tablets with an edge-to-edge screen (like that of the iPhone X) next year.
