The digital daily The Daily, designed by News Corporation of Rupert Murdoch for the iPad in particular and term for all tablets, announced Thursday that it is now also available in a form suitable for the iPhone.
“You asked for it, we built it: we present The Daily for iPhone”, the daily team said on Twitter. “A new era demands a new journalism, a new tailor-made service”, said Mr. Murdoch last year when presenting The Daily New York, promising that this new exclusively digital publication would combine “good field journalism, good coordination, a skeptical eye, combined with technology”.
First available exclusively on the Apple iPad, the application is now also available on tablets running Android, the system designed by Google. A monthly subscription costs 3.99 dollars, an annual subscription 39.99 dollars. On the App Store, The Daily is the 9th highest-grossing application, just ahead of the New York Times.
A hundred people were recruited to support this project, including experienced journalists from the weekly New yorker, from the magazine Forbes and tablode New york post (owned by News Corp.). A budget of $ 30 million has been released for the first year, according to Forbes.
