The adventures of an iPhone flying during a cruise …

Theft from a cruise, Katy McCaffrey’s iPhone continued to transmit photos taken by the thief via the iCloud service. The punishment soon fell for the latter, who was, in fact, an employee of the shipping company.

Katy McCaffrey is certainly not ready to forget the cruise she carried out last month. Indeed, her iPhone was robbed during the stay and when she no longer had any hope of recovering it, the device began to automatically transmit photos taken by the thief! Katy had taken care to activate the “iCloud” backup feature on her iPhone. So all the photos taken by "the new owner" of his camera continued to be transmitted to him, directly on his computer and this, the most complete knowledge of the thief.

Finding that the photos kept coming, Katy had fun create a Facebook album as a tribute to his missing iPhone (see screenshot above). An album which also had the role of revealing the faces of its new owner, and his entourage, to the whole world.

Realizing thereafter that the thief was an employee of "Disney Cruise Line", the company that Katy had chosen to carry out his cruise, the latter did not delay transmit the photos to the persons in charge of it to denounce the robbery she suffered. The company was quick to easily identify its employee whose first name was relatively easy to guess thanks to its badge exposed on the photos. If we believe the professional situation displayed on Facebook profile of this collaborator (o rather former collaborator), the sanction did not fall quickly. Katy should be able to recover her iPhone very soon. At least that’s what the shipping company promised!
