According to several sources, Huawei could drop the Ascend brand which it has operated for a few years now and which it has affixed to several dozen smartphones, including the recent 6-inch Ascend GX1.
For the manufacturer of Chinese origin, it would be to simplify the names of its smartphones. In order to succeed the current Ascend P7, we would thus find a P8. Then see if the abandonment of the Ascend brand would mean the end of Kirin house processors in favor of the popular models from MediaTek and Qualcomm.
We will no doubt have the answers to these questions at the next world mobility fair to be held in early March in Barcelona, Spain.

The practice is by no means new. In particular, it was noticed at LG, which had drawn a line under the Optimus brand.
