Today, Free announces by press release that 28 matches of the Football World Cup which begins on June 14 in Russia will be available in 4K (UHD) on Freebox mini 4K. It is in fact a retransmission via the event channel TF1 4K on channel 101. TF1 is the official broadcaster of the competition.

Free specifies availability for fiber subscribers equipped with the Player mini 4K, which includes the Freebox Revolution with the multi-TV mini 4K option, in addition to the Freebox mini 4K.

At the end of April, the TF1 group and Free had signed a new global distribution agreement including in particular 4K event programs. These soccer matches are the demonstration.

However, the TF1 group also managed to renew distribution agreements with SFR (in November), Bouygues Telecom (subsidiary of the same Bouygues group; in January) and Orange (in March). Each of these agreements includes the broadcasting of TF1 4K, and therefore UHD quality matches of the 2018 Football World Cup.

For SFR, the Ariase specialized site details the availability of TF1 4K on channel 128 with cable or fiber technology with cable termination and end-to-end optical fiber (FTTH) with a 4K compatible operator box.

With Bouygues Telecom, it is in FTTH on channel 28 with a Bbox Miami 4K (or now Bbox Ultym). As for Orange, TF1 4K is available on channel 996 with a fiber subscription and the TV4 decoder from Livebox Play (Livebox 4).
