Tesla is committed to offering a 3-month Fully Autonomous Drive option to anyone who buys a branded electric car before January 1, 2021. This option, only available in beta in the United States, is usually billed for 10,000 dollars. It will soon be offered in a subscription plan.
This Tuesday, December 29, 2020, Elon Musk, CEO and founder of Tesla, has decided to offer a small end-of-year gift to people who will receive their new electric car in the last three days of the year.
“All Tesla cars delivered in the last three days of the year will get three months of the Fully Independent Drive option free of charge. Delivery and documents must be fully completed by midnight December 31 ” Elon Musk details on his Twitter account. Once this free period is over, drivers will have to put their hand in the wallet or say goodbye to the Fully Autonomous Driving option (or Full Self Driving in the original version)

Without much surprise, this offer is limited to US motorists. For now, Fully Autonomous Driving is in fact only available in beta in the United States. Last November, Tesla rolled out 100% autonomous driving to members of the beta program. The technology developed by the group makes it possible to go from point A to point B without having to take the wheel, even in the city.
However, this new iteration of autopilot still requires that the driver keeps his eyes on the road and his hands on the wheel. This is still only a full-scale test on the scale of the United States, tempers Tesla. The firm also emphasizes that the Autpilot “Can do the wrong thing at the worst time” and asks users to stay alert and focused on the road.
This option is available for $ 10,000 to Tesla drivers. To allow more users to test the new version of Autopilot, the automaker will launch a Fully Autonomous Driving subscription in early 2021. For the time being, Tesla has not given details on this formula allowing ” spread the option payment over several months.
All Tesla cars delivered in the final three days of the year will get three months of the Full Self-Driving option for free. Delivery & docs must be fully complete by midnight Dec 31st.
