Last February, Sony lifted the veil on the Xperia 1 II, its first 5G smartphone. With its 6.5-inch 4K HDR 10+ OLED display in 21: 9 format, its quadruple photo sensor and its Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, the Sony flagship has managed to surprise us. As we told you in our test of the Xperia 1 II, the Japanese firm corrected most of the weak points of the first generation.

Without much surprise, Sony should continue its momentum with the Xperia 1 III. True to form, the Japanese giant should launch the smartphone during the month of February 2021. If the terminal has not yet been formalized by Sony, an informant has unveiled a large part of the technical sheet on his Twitter account.

Here is the technical sheet of the Xperia 1 III

According to The Galox !, leaker and renowned YouTuber in the industry, the Xperia 1 III will be built around a 6.5-inch 4K OLED HDR display. Unlike its predecessor, the smartphone would benefit from a panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Moreover, Sony should once again rely on a 21: 9 format. The panel would be 15% brighter than that of the Xperia 1 II.

On the edge, we should find the fingerprint reader. Unlike most Android manufacturers, Sony still refuses to slide the biometric sensor under the slab. IP65 / IP68 certified, the Xperia 1 III is dust and water resistant. As you would expect, the flagship is powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, Qualcomm’s new 5nm-engraved chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Obviously it is compatible with 5G networks. For now, it is not known whether the terminal is compatible with the millimeter orders of 5G. This was not the case with the Xperia 1 II.

Finally, Sony would market the Xperia 1 III to a price of 1199 dollars, like its predecessor. In Europe, the firm should therefore offer the smartphone at 1199 euros. We’ll tell you more as soon as possible. While waiting for more information on the next Sony, feel free to give your opinion in the comments below.
