Sony will permanently shut down the service

The PlayStation Mobile service was originally designed to allow independent developers to deliver games on Sony's mobile platforms, whether smartphones or tablets. The titles are also playable on PS Vita.

PlayStation MobileLast year, we highlighted the fact that Sony discontinued support for its service with the latest version of the Android system, already implying a scheduled stop over the medium term.

It's now official, Sony will close PlayStation Mobile permanently as of September 10, 2015. The stopping of the updates of the games via this service will be effective as from July 15 next. Also, it will no longer be possible to recover the content purchased by the end of the year.

If you want to preserve your acquired games, it will be necessary to download and launch them between April 10 and September 10, 2015. As long as your compatible smartphone or tablet is connected to the Internet, your games will remain active and playable without the use of the PlayStation Mobile application, as long that they will be installed on your mobile.

On PS Vita, you will have to go to the console settings and activate the PlayStation Mobile between today and September 10 to preserve your games. You can also save them on a memory card.
