That’s it, they’re coming. Their name is Samsung s10, Xiaomi Mi 9, Sony Xperia 1 or LG G8 ThinQ. The first smartphones to take advantage of Snapdragon 855 are finally here. With each generation, the founder Qualcomm is trying to bring more power to its new processor, while trying to reduce its smoothness, its energy consumption and its heat emission (with more or less success depending on the year, it must be recognized).

In order to ensure the real contribution of the new Snapdragon, we quickly submitted it to various benchmark tools. We also compared these results to those obtained with the previous generation, namely the Snapdragon 845. And the results are final: without wanting to advertise, the Snapdragon 855 is clearly the fastest processor of the moment. All the benchmarking tools are unanimous, whether 3DMark, Geekbench, Antutu, etc. The 3DMark 3D game demo particularly impressed us, as it is displayed with unequaled fluidity.

For basic use (consultation of web pages, messaging, photos, etc.), these gains are not noticeable. On the other hand, they are more so in the most demanding games that we have tested, especially under Fortnite, PUBG, etc. In short, the 855 is a complete success and we can’t wait for it to invade all the Android flagships of the year.

Finally, note that we will not hesitate to update these benchmarks very soon taking into consideration the new Exynos 9820 (in plain language, as soon as we receive a Galaxy S10).
