Apple is officially the owner of Shazam, the music recognition service. After confirming its intention to buy the company in December 2017, Apple announced today that the transaction has been completed and that it will remove the ads within the application. And this, for all users.
Apple to offer ad-free Shazam app
Shazam allows users to identify songs simply by listening to the music around them. The app will soon offer its ad-free experience to all users so that everyone can enjoy the best of Shazam without interruption.
“Apple and Shazam have a long history together. Shazam was one of the first apps available when we launched the App Store and has become a favorite app for music lovers all over the world. With a shared love for music and innovation, we are delighted to bring our teams together to provide even more great users with the means to discover, experience and enjoy music, “said Oliver Schusser, vice President of Apple Music at Apple.
Shazam has already offered two versions of its application: a free version with ads and a paid version, called Shazam Encore, without advertising. Apple will likely integrate Shazam closer to Apple Music and Siri in the future in order to offer new features to users.
The Shazam app is available for free on the App Store.
