Helmet Gear VR reality show was originally unveiled at IFA 2014 in Berlin and the first model was compatible with the phablet Galaxy Note 4 from Samsung. For the MWC 2015 show in Barcelona, the Korean group presented the same Gear VR headset but this time compatible with its new reference smartphones Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
This variant, always designed in collaboration with the specialist in virtual reality headsets Oculus and bearing the name Gear VR Innovator Edition, is now officially available on the French market. Like the previous version, it uses the Super AMOLED 5.1 display of Galaxy S6 smartphones as a viewing system but it gains in compactness by 15%.
Samsung says the fastening system has been redesigned to ensure better weight balancing while the gadget has anti-fog ventilation for an optimal virtual reality experience. Another novelty, the Gear VR headset can now be supplied with energy via its USB port for prolonged use.
Content is offered on the Oculus Store portal. The helmet is available in white color and its dimensions are 196 x 108 x 83 mm. The price always revolves around € 199.
