At the start of the year, Samsung launched its Galaxy Watch Active connected watch. A new version has (already) been presented by the South Korean group. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be available in two sizes of 40 and 44 mm with two finishes (aluminum and stainless steel) and a 10.9 mm thick case waterproof up to 50 meters.
Depending on the size (40 or 44 mm), its weight varies from 26 to 30 g for the aluminum finish and from 37 to 42 g for the stainless steel finish.
Running with the Tizen home operating system, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is equipped with a 1.5 GHz dual core Exynos 9110 processor, associated with 768 MB of RAM or 1.5 GB of RAM for the 4G version (eSIM ) and 4 GB of storage. It has a 247 mAh (40 mm model) or 340 mAh (44 mm model) battery.
The circular display benefits from a Super AMOLED screen of 1.2 "(40 mm model) or 1.4" (44 mm model) with a definition of 360 x 360 pixels. For interactions, the thin edges allow the return of a rotating bezel which was zapped in the first Galaxy Watch Active, but in a format digital (tactile borders) and not physical with haptic feedback.
With an integrated GPS module, we find the monitoring of more than 39 exercises, including some with automatic activation (running, walking, cycling, swimming…), and even instant coaching under the guidance of the virtual assistant Bixby. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 benefits from a more precise measurement of the heart rate thanks to an 8-photodiode sensor, as well as improved monitoring of sleep cycles and stress levels.
As expected, this watch does benefit from EKG function, even if its activation will not be effective at first. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 offers Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and includes an NFC module.
Samsung has provided various possibilities for personalization as with the dials. In addition, a partnership with Spotify for the synchronization of offline playlists is highlighted.
In the United States, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 connected watch will be available on September 27 for a price that will start at $ 280 (40 mm). For France, the availability date and the price have not yet been communicated. It is nonetheless possible to register to participate in the first pre-orders.
