The Snapdragon 675 is intended for mid-range smartphones, but that does not prevent Qualcomm from integrating high-end features. First of all, the Kryo 460 architecture is built around ARM Cortex-A76 cores, normally intended for high-end models. Then it incorporates 2 2.0 GHz cores dedicated to performance and 6 1.78 Ghz cores oriented towards energy efficiency . This remains below the Snapdragon 845 and its 4 cores at 2.8GHz.
The 675 will be engraved in 11nm, against 10nm for the 845. Anantech notes that it is rare to see Qualcomm developing a new architecture on the mid-range, especially since this 645 will probably be more efficient than the 710 yet higher in the range . Aside from performance, the Snapdragon 675 emphasizes features hitherto reserved for the most expensive models, such as signal processing designed for triple objectives or improving performance in the game phase, like from Huawei’s GPU Turbo optimization. It also supports Quick Charge 4+ and has a faster artificial engine.
The first smartphones with this new Snapdragon are expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2019.
