The Office 365 Home Premium subscription remains the best way to take advantage of the advanced features of the new Office suite, starting with the collaborative work functions. It is enough that the document (or presentation) on which you want to work is stored on SkyDrive in a shared folder, and that each colleague, friend, or classmate who must participate in the creation or writing of the document has his own “Microsoft ID” login. Not all users need an Office 365 account or even have the Office suite on their PC, collaboration can also be achieved using Office Web Apps.
Create a shared folder on SkyDrive
To work together, simultaneously, on the same document, it must be stored in a space accessible to all those who must work there. And what better than SkyDrive to share a document. Connect to your SkyDrive drive via skydrive.live.com. Once authenticated, deploy the menu Create and select Folder. Name the folder Shares for example.
Once the folder is created, right click on it and select Share. Enter emails from Microsoft ID accounts of people who will access the folder and documents. Check that the box ” Recipients can edit content Is checked.
Save your document on SkyDrive
Here we will see how collaboration works in Word, but the functionality is similar in PowerPoint. Open Word and create a new document. Enter some information and save the document on your SkyDrive, in the Shares folder by clicking on File, then Save as, then select your SkyDrive and click Browse to select the Shares folder and enter the file name.

Suppose you keep the document open and one of your comrades or colleagues connects to the SkyDrive and also loads the document on their machine from their Office. You will be notified by the presence in the status bar (at the bottom of the window) with an icon indicating the number of people simultaneously connected to the document. By clicking on it, the list of connected users is displayed.
When a user is editing a section of the document, that section is highlighted and an icon indicates that that part of the document should not be edited by you at this time. To display the modifications made by the other participants, simply launch a recording of the document: this will validate your modifications and will show all the modifications made by the other people.

Collaboration from Word Web App
Collaborative work around documents is not limited to users who have access to the full version of Office. The free versions of Office Web Apps, which work from any web browser, also allow you to access and edit a shared document while other users are simultaneously working on the document. PC versions, just load the document from SkyDrive and open it in Edit mode. You will be notified of other people who are also working on it at the same time as you.
Collaborative functions don’t stop at simultaneous editing. Everyone can also add comments. Select the area to comment, open the tab. Revision then click on ” New comment ” Enter the comment in the margin. When each person has commented and corrected the document, the Revision tab of the ribbon offers various functions to display all the comments at once or easily navigate from one comment to another.
