PS5: Sony deploys update 20.02-02.30 dedicated to the DualSense controller

The PS5 receives a new system update. Entitled “02.20-02.30”, this third version of the firmware is notably dedicated to the DualSense controller which accompanies the console. In the process, Sony takes the opportunity to improve the general performance of the interface of the PlayStation.

Sony continues to keep updating the PS5. Since its arrival on the market in November 2020, the home console has indeed benefited from three software updates. The last update for the PS5 was on November 25, 2020 and fixed a handful of bugs, including a malfunction that prevented the controller from charging in rest mode.

This December 9, 2020, Sony is deploying the third update of the PlayStation 5. Faithful to its habits, the Japanese firm communicates little information on the improvements made. In the release notes, Sony is content to state that the update 20.02-02.30 “Allows you to benefit from additional functions, better ergonomics and enhanced security”. In detail, the firmware weighs 868 MB, like the previous updates.

How to install the update 20.02-02.30 of the PS5?

During installation, a message asks to connect the DualSense controller to the PS5. Quite logically, the firmware must therefore provide improvements or corrections to the functioning of the DualSense. We can imagine for example that the update aims to solve the problem of drift of the DualSense. This malfunction causes the joysticks to move by themselves in one direction. De facto, the camera or the character moves in one direction on the screen, making the gaming experience very complicated.

“For the best PlayStation experience, you should always install the most recent version of the system software on your PS5 console” encourages Sony. To warn users, a message appears on the screen when the console is turned on. If you have not seen the message, you can also install the update 20.02-02.30 by following the maneuver below:

  • Go to Settings
  • See you in System
  • Click on System software
  • Press on System software update and settings
