When it was thought to be buried, the POP charger that had been fully funded by Kickstarter, and "canceled" shortly after its announcement because of Apple's manufacturing rules deemed far too severe, will ultimately become a reality.
The “made for iPhone” rules got the better of a handful of accessories designed by third-party manufacturers. Well aware of the situation, Apple decided to review its rules and allow some manufacturers to revert to their projects. The POP charger, which was one of the most popular Kickstarter projects ($ 140,000 anyway), was canceled following the introduction of “made for iPhone” rules.
The new design rules for the Lightning connector, implemented by Apple just a few days ago, have made it possible to restart the machine. The POP charger therefore finally went into production after this reversal of the situation which obviously surprised the designers of the project. “It was an incredible turnaround. We never thought we would be able to change Apple’s rules”Explains Siminoff, the project manager.
