The apple firm’s lawyers must not have a minute’s rest right now. Indeed, complaints filed against Apple for patent infringements have multiplied in recent weeks. After those of VOIP-PAL, ofImmersion Corporation and the rather astonishing complaint of Corderas Technologies (read: Unusual: Apple in court because its iPhone can call), it is now the turn of the University of Caltech to get started.
This latest attack on Apple and its supplier of Wi-Fi network chips (Broadcom) in court for non-compliance with intellectual property. According to lawyers for the University, these two companies have infringed 4 IRA / LDPC coding / decoding patents. They therefore request an injunction to ban the sale of certain devices of the brand which are affected by said patents. Of course, the Cupertino company will not let it go and will certainly deploy all the strategies necessary for the decision of justice to turn in its favor.
However, it is also possible for Apple to negotiate directly with the University of Caltech and pay it a certain amount of money to compensate for the damages resulting from this violation. If his lawyers can convince them, then the University may be able to withdraw his complaint …
