Last year, Apple removed the physical Home button from theiPhone on the tenth anniversary model. The manufacturer plans to do the same with the MacBook. A version with a tactile keyboard would thus be in preparation.

TheiPhone X is the first Apple phone without a physical Home button. This choice enlarged the screen area. The 5.8-inch OLED panel on the phone actually covers almost the entire front. The borders are extremely thin and the top / bottom strips have been removed. Note that a notch at the top of the phone serves as a support for the front camera and the speaker.

Remove physical keys to replace them with a tactile surface, a concept that the apple brand probably wants to repeat on the MacBook. An application for Apple’s certification to the United States Patent and Trademark Office has recently been made public. In the document in question, the manufacturer explains how it plans to replace the physical keyboard of the MacBook with a touch screen. A virtual keyboard would then allow the laptop to be used.

As a reminder, the brand had launched in October 2016 new MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar. The latter is a touch strip on which the function keys are displayed.
