Lagging behind for a few years, Orange finally decided to offer a new version of its Livebox.
The news came on November 6. Jean-Paul Cotter, executive director of marketing and innovation for Orange announced that they will speak about the next Livebox next November 21 during an Orange event. This Livebox 3 should be distributed in early 2013.
With it, Orange must catch up with the competition it has lagged behind. The Freebox Revolution, Bbox Sensation, Neufbox Evolution or the box Numericable are all more advanced since a generation superior to the current Livebox. According to Euro TMT, the incumbent operator would be aware of this technological divide and would thus have invested 120 million euros in research and development for the Livebox 3. For its part, Orange ensures that it will embark all the latest technologies.
If a Livebox Pro was launched last April, the last Livebox general public dates back to 2009. Built by Sagemcom, the Livebox 3 would just pass Wi-Fi certifications if we are to believe the words of the Livebox-News site.
