OnePlus 9: Leica could sign the photo part

OnePlus could sign a partnership with Leica. The German optical giant could thus design the photo part of the OnePlus 9, which would have major arguments to make in this area. Leica is already a Huawei partner in this segment, which has given excellent results.

The photo part has always been OnePlus’ Achilles heel. On its latest high-end smartphone, the OnePlus 8T, the Finnish manufacturer was doing well, but did not come up to the level of the competition. And if a partnership with Leica changed all that?

Teme, a leaker who has often hit the nail on the head in the past, indeed claims that Leica is now a partner of OnePlus, just like with Huawei. If this is confirmed, it could be a big leap forward for the Sino-Finnish firm. Leica would thus oversee the development of sensors on the next smartphones and would offer software solutions to improve the images.

Leica has been a Huawei partner for four years now and we have seen the Chinese company drastically improve on this point. The Mate 40 is for example one of the best photophones on the market. OnePlus could therefore follow the same path. The partnership between Leica and Huawei is not in question. Nevertheless, the concerns experienced by the Chinese brand could push the German giant to diversify its offer.

OnePlus with Leica, Vivo with Zeiss

The OnePlus 9 is starting to leak everywhere. It should be equipped a 6.5-inch AMOLED screen (FHD +) with 120Hz refresh rate, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and 4,500mAh battery. For the moment, no information has leaked concerning his camera. Will it be the first Leica logo at OnePlus?

It should be noted that photography is becoming an increasingly important argument for smartphone designers. Vivo has for example signed a partnership with Zeiss, another German optical giant, for its smartphones. Zeiss is also still a partner of HMD Global for smartphones sold under the Nokia brand.

We will have to wait a little before knowing more about the OnePlus 9, since the terminal should not be presented before next March.
