OnePlus 7 and 7T: Android 11 update postponed to 2021

OnePlus has been forced to delay the deployment of Android 11 on its 7 and 7T models, probably until next year. In a post on its dedicated forum, the manufacturer explained that he encountered data encryption problems during the installation of the update, which he must therefore resolve before launching the beta for users. The firm said it has approached Qualcomm to find a solution in the coming week.

Android 11 continues its little way among the smartphones concerned. If in most recent devices the update goes relatively smoothly, the situation seems more complicated for the older ones. While OnePlus’ announcement of the deployment of the new operating system for the 7 and 7T models had delighted more than one, the latter will ultimately have to wait a little longer before you can enjoy it.

Via a post on its dedicated forum, the Chinese manufacturer said “Encounter a problem with the data encryption”, which prevents him from launching the beta as is. “This problem forces us to delay our original Android 11 deployment plan for the 7 models”, he continues. Without additional details added by the company, it is difficult for the time being to know until when the owners of OnePlus 7 and 7T will have to be patient.

OnePlus closes in with Qualcomm to resolve issue

The move to Android 11 seems much more complicated than expected for OnePlus. In particular, 8 models users reported that since the update, sending SMS no longer works. The firm has announced that it has uses Qualcomm to solve the data encryption problem as soon as possible. The OnePlus7 and 7T are indeed equipped with the Snapdragon 855 and 855 Plus from the processor manufacturer, which places the latter in pole position to resolve the situation.

OnePlus is all in all reassuring and wanted to clarify that “After negotiations, Qualcomm should probably find a solution within a week”. According to her, this would mean that the beta of Android 11 could be available Before the end of the month, “If progress is satisfactory”. Considering the still unknown nature of the malfunction, it is still quite likely that users will have to wait at least until next year.
