Office 2007 end of support is approaching

The first version of the Office suite with the Ribbon graphical interface, Office 2007 has not yet reached its end-of-life date, but this will happen this year. After a relatively long support period, Microsoft recently set the October 10, 2017 deadline.

End of life means that Microsoft will no longer release any updates for Office 2007, which as it stands essentially means no longer any security updates.

If Office 2007 programs like Word, Excel and PowerPoint will continue to work beyond October 10, Outlook will however be affected later with the inability to connect to the mailboxes of Office 365 from 31 October.

Additional information and details on the roadmap for ending support for Office 2007 have been posted on a dedicated page. There is no doubt that cybercriminals have already checked the date of October 10, 2017 on their calendar.
