No widgets for the iPad!

The absence of widgets from the firmware 3.2 SDK as well as on the visuals and presentations made by Apple suggested in a kind of Dashboard where the widgets Mto, Stock exchange, Calculator and Clock would have been present.

According to John Gruber of Daring Fireball, there is no “secret mode” with widgets. These would have been deleted at the request of Steve Jobs because they would be unsatisfactory for use on iPad. Not that Apple wouldn't have thought of adding and modifying them for a 9.7-inch screen like the iPad, but that these applications seemed standard for such a screen.

Apple could wait for firmware 4.0 to offer these completely redesigned and otherwise integrated apps for the iPad.

However, note the absence of the voice memo on iPad which could have been useful despite everything …

We discuss it on the forum.
