MuscleNerd, a member of the Dev-Team, explains on his Twitter thread thatthere will be no new unlocking methods before iOS 4.2.5 or iOS 4.3 according to upcoming updates to Apple’s mobile operating system.
No reason was given.
The current unlocking method is not, so to speak, very "clean". Indeed, for iPhone 3G and 3GS, under iOS 4.2.1, it is advisable to inject the baseband of the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G (06.15.00) to then allow the unlocking via Ultrasn0w 1.2. This method is certainly not without risk and causes, in particular, problems with the GPS.
This temporary unlocking method was proposed by the Dev-Team some time ago to help people blocked under this firmware.
We discuss it on the forum.
