Nintendo: a patent to transform the smartphone into a Game Boy

According to a patent deposited by Nintendo and discovered by Siliconera, the Japanese company worked on a case whose upper face reproduces the buttons of a Gameboy. Until the next set of consoles DS, Nintendo therefore seems to be carrying out another project in parallel.

Image 1: Nintendo: a patent to transform the smartphone into a Game BoyThe upper part of the device has a cutout for displaying the smartphone screen. The lower half is distinguished by the presence of characteristic touches of a gameboy : a directional cross, two function keys and fire buttons. They could be used to control a game launched on the phone. Of course, the physical controllers connected to a smartphone are not new. But the fact thatthey concern a cult console is still attractive.

However, a patent does not mean that the project will materialize. Fans keep hope. After the NES Classic mini, the Japanese firm could well launch a Game Boy Classic. A new Switch with a screen worthy of the name could also see the light next year.
