new details on the Gear A / Orbis round watch interface

After several generations of connected watches with a more rectangular than rounded design, it seems that Samsung is preparing to launch a first watch with a round case, known by the code name Orbis and which could correspond to a watch Samsung Gear A.

Still under Tizen OS, one of its assets could come from a new interface adapted to its rounded format and which can be managed from a crown surrounding the dial, leaving the view of the screen clear. Several published patents have already given a first idea of how it works.

However, notes the site Tizen Experts, the serious things could start with the new Tizen SDK for Gear watches available in early access and which should allow developers to design "Rich and differentiated apps for the next generation of Gear devices".

It includes the first elements to manage a round display and the interactions associated with the crown surrounding the screen. The documentation explains in particular how interactions work to navigate a list and select an item.

According to the first information present in the SDK, the future smart watch round Gear from Samsung should have a display 360 x 360 pixels, for a diagonal of 1.65 inch and with a density of 305 ppi.

The watch should offer motion sensors, a heart rate monitor, a pressure sensor and a magnetic compass. It will have WiFi wireless connectivity, a GPS module and a cellular modem.

The Samsung Gear A watch, which could be autonomous, should be unveiled in September at the IFA 2015 fair in Berlin and at the same time as the future phablet Galaxy Note 5.
