Multilingual Google Assistant steals it

Google’s voice command assistant is currently available in eight languages: German, English, Korean, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, and Portuguese. This concerns connected speakers, Android smartphones, as well as the iPhone. On Android tablet, it's only English at the moment.

By the end of this year, the Google Assistant will be available in a total of 30 languages, and will cover 95% of eligible Android smartphones worldwide. These must have Android 6.0 Marshmallow at least, 1.5 GB of RAM, a screen definition of 720p.

With the iPhone also, the first batch of new languages will first concern Danish, Hindi, Indonesian, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish and Thai. An expansion which attests to Google's desire to rapidly distribute its voice assistant to the world.

In addition, the Google Assistant will become multilingual later this year. That is, it will be possible to him speak more than one language at a time. The Google Assistant will be able to understand and switch between multiple languages on the fly.

This multilingual capacity will first concern German, English and French, then later other languages. " If you prefer to speak German at work, but French at home, your Assistant is there with you ", writes Google.

Google will also work with manufacturers to better integrate the Google Assistant in Android devices, and thus for specific functionalities such as with the digital camera for example. The names of LG, Sony and Xiaomi are cited. Work will also be carried out with operators.

It is clear that Google is betting a lot on its so-called intelligent assistant which allows access to a whole range of services and interactions thanks to voice commands, which we will recall that they are recorded in the cloud.
