According to the web analysis company Net Applications, the Mountain Lion operating system is today the most popular OS X, and only 5 months after its release in July 2012.
As of last December, 32% of all Macs that have connected to the internet were running the OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. The use of Lion, the previous version of Mac OS X increased from 30% (December 2011) to 28% (December 2012).
The OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, which appeared for the first time in 2009, is still widely used despite its age. This version still represents 29% of Mac OS used on the internet. Snow Leopard is still on sale at Apple’s online store and is praised for its stability.
Net Applications collects its data by tracking more than 160 million monthly visitors worldwide from nearly 40,000 websites, thus providing very reliable statistics on users of the various platforms at all times.
