Microsoft simplifies the home screen of its Office suite on the iPhone

Microsoft announces the arrival of a new welcome screen for the three apps that make up its Office office suite on the AppStore. Word, Excel and PowerPoint will all display a simplified presentation, around only three sections: welcome, new and open.

Catches MacRumors.

In Home, you will find what it takes to connect a Microsoft account, a mandatory step to fully use these apps. This section will also contain recent documents. New, without surprise, allows you to create a new document, blank or from one of the models proposed by the company. Finally, Open will allow you to guess, to open an already existing document, stored locally on the iPhone, or accessible via the Files app or even from a cloud service.

This division into three spaces is a simplification of the current presentation, where there are no less than five icons in the bar at the bottom on the home screen of each app. Note that the parameters will no longer be directly accessible, but we imagine that we can access them via the avatar displayed at the top left of the screen.

The current version of Word.

This new feature is reported in the list of new features for version 2.34 of each app. This update is out today and you can download it, but you will not be seeing the news for that. As often, Microsoft uses a system which removes the association between new function and version of the AppStore and this novelty will undoubtedly be active later on its side.
