Android (Google) and iOS (Apple) dominate the market for mobile operating systems, as demonstrated by recent figures from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech. The two OS are constantly growing and crushing the competition all over the world. In France, Android has the most market share, but iOS experienced a larger increase between December 2016 and February 2017.
The international institute reveals that Apple’s mobile OS now accounts for 24% market share in France. This implies that in the country, almost one in four smartphones sold is an iPhone. In the same period last year, iOS had “only” 19.9%. The latter has thus progressed by 4.1 points, but is still far behind the Google operating system. Android has 73.4% market share, 1.6 points more than last year.
In the other European countries, the Cupertino OS also signs the best progressions. In Germany, it advanced 4 points (20.2%) while all of its competitors were in decline. In the United Kingdom, iOS gained 4.5 points (42.3%) and was a little closer to Android (55%). However, Apple’s operating system is losing ground in Spain and is down 1.7 points.
