Apple is said to have chosen Luxshare Precision for the production of the upcoming Apple Watch Series 6 and some older iPhone models.
Luxshare Precision has been Apple's partner for several years. He is notably in charge of the production of AirPods and Watch. Given the good results obtained to date, Apple would have decided to give more responsibility to this supplier. The bulk of the production of the Apple Watch Series 6 would be entrusted to him, just like old iPhone models.
With this decision, Apple would further diversify its supply chain, reducing the risks associated with a shortage of devices when demand is high. In addition, in the second half of 2021, Luxshare is expected to produce most of Apple’s iPhone cases.
In this way, Foxconn could take care of the production of the new iPhone. Luxshare, Foxconn and Caompal Electronics, for their part, will take care of the production of the old iPhone cases and models. Luxshare Precision should therefore be the main supplier of the next Watch Series 6. It is expected in the second half of 2020.
Currently, it is impossible to know if the future Apple watch will sport a new design. Since the first version, the changes have been very small. So it would be interesting to see if Apple is going to change its tune this year.
