Last month, during WWDC19, Apple announced that iOS 13 would send Siri radio requests from iHeartRadio, TuneIn and Radio.com. This function is called LiveRadio seems already well ahead since the deployment has already begun before the release of the expected software for mid-September in final version.
Our confreres Macerkopf.de say this morning that some German users have managed to ask Siri to broadcast live national radio stations on HomePod using the latest official software and via Apple Music on devices running iOS 12.3. No need for the iOS 13 beta.
Apple bug or test?
It is hard to say if it is a voluntary test or a bug, or even how much Apple is advanced on this subject but the readers were able to listen to Bayern radio and NRJ. For memory, Apple says that at the official world launch this fall, owners of Apple devices will have about 100,000 radio stations that can be easily launched with Siri. You will have to install one of the three apps listed above.
Other new features of the HomePod with iOS 13 include the transfer of music, podcasts and phone calls, but especially individual voice recognition for up to six users. This will allow a personalized listening experience and personal access to messages, reminders, lists and calendars, as well as the ability to make phone calls from the user's contacts.
