The AppleTV app is going to find a new home: LG has indeed announced that the application will be offered on its webOS connected TVs of 2018, 2019 and 2020! Outside of the Apple ecosystem, the AppleTV application provides access to its library of purchased or played movies on the iTunes Store, AppleTV + and AppleTV pay channels. It is less well supplied than from an AppleTV box, but finally it is not so bad (read also our overview of the app on an Amazon Fire TV).
2018 TV users had loudly expressed their disappointment at not being able to take advantage of AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, LG having integrated these Apple technologies into its 2019 and then 2020 range (read: LG's 8K TVs will be expensive, but compatible AirPlay). There is still no question of AirPlay on the tls of 2018, but at least AppleTV will be there. LG does not specify the models concerned, nor the release schedule for updates.
